May I try this.

Treating reflux with CPAP (Sound familiar) has been successful. In fact someone suggested that before it was tried. Initially those researchers thought that the pressure applied to the esophagus stopped the reflux. About 7 years later they changed their mind.

The way I understand it, the diaphragm yanks on a ligament which is tied to the lower esophageal sphincter. This yank, if hard enough opens the sphincter allowing gastric fluids ot enter the esophagus. I can provide an internet reference on "yanking the ligament" and CPAP treatment of reflux.

I can also send abstracts for most of CPAP papers.
