First, thanks for the advice out there. I have been fortunate (so far) to have a pretty easy early recovery. I believe that my wife's idea about putting a humidifier in the room with me has helped me from getting too dry of throat. I have also been sleeping and resting in an old lazyboy chair. This has kept my head slightly elevated and have found that I am more comfortable there than in bed.

Pain has been much less than anticipated, but am prepared from others' stories that day 5 and 6 can be worse. At the suggestion of others in this forum, I have been setting my watch to wake me for meds on time. I think that has helped to keep me ahead. I still have discomfort, but the only pain that is registering is when my nose is accidently bumped. Only complaint is that I wish I could blow my nose to clear out the mucus that is draining.

Been drinking lots of ice water (using a child's cup to help keep me from spilling) along with popsicles. I have had Chicken n Stars today (twice) and it went down pretty easy.

The doctor has me on percocet and I also have "Hurricaine" topical anesthetic to help as needed.

The biggest help has been my wife though. She has supported me in this and been a dear to stay home and take care of me.

I know I'm one of the lucky ones. But after reading and hearing so many stories of misery, I wanted to share my story to let other people know that it is like most other operations. Some go easy and some do not. I hope and pray that everyone could have it as easy.
