UPPP and Tonsillectomy -- Day 6

Posted by Bequa on January 21, 2001 at 08:06:39:

I'm now in my sixth day post-op for UPPP with tonsil removal. If I had known how painful it would be, I'm quite sure I'd have talked myself out of it.

I'm wondering, what have others been prescribed as far as pain medications. In the hospital the first med I received was morphine which was ineffective. I was then given Lortab elixir, which is what I'm using at home, too. I'm allergic to codeine. But was there nothing stronger I could have been given? I thought the liquid pain medication would at least make me drowsy, but it didn't even do that. It just calms the throat BETWEEN swallows.
