While working as an accountant in a CPA firm, I went back to work too soon after a very traumatic car accident. The first two or three days back at work, I made some very serious errors that were fortunately caught in the review process - three weeks later. By that point in time, the boss had forgotten that I had made the errors when I was recovering from the accident and on heavy duty pain killers. It took me several months to recover my lost credibility. Point is that it may be better to take the time to fully recover than to go back too soon and screw up big time. It doesn't pay to be a hero by going back too soon.

Get the medical care you need NOW. Even if you are just a marginally competent accountant, you should have no difficulty finding another job. And, your boss should realize that it could take him to the end of tax season to find a qualified replacement. Your health is more important than any job. No health - no job. Health - you can get and hold a job - and have a life!

Pleasant Dreams
