With a boss like this, who needs...! Tell your boss to shove it. Diplomatically of course. You will do your very best. But with a jerk like this, when your best didn't heal you in time, feel free to tell him on day 11 that you are still not fit for duty. And at that time feel free to tell him/her when your docs will give you clearance. Most companies require a doctors note saying it is ok to return to work after such a circumstance. It is a liability thing. And if you do not yet have such medical clearance, what can you do except sit back, relax(an oxymoron with two little ones) and recuperate. Do not let your boss's artificially induced stress interfere with your recuperation. He deserves no more consideration than he is giving you. And in your business, you can change bosses in a heartbeat.
