CPAP is not the big lie but as with everything not all people are created equal. I can only speak for myself and I do have quite a bit of experience with this contraption. 14 years ago I used one for about five months.(I had severe OSA then) I could only use it for about 4 to 5 hours before it felt like I was breathing fire.
Then in the last two years I tried a couple of different machines and still had the problem with great pain and headaches. I tried very hard to comply even with horrible nightmares.
My only options left where to die, have a trach. or surgery. I opted for surgery and even though it’s not an easy road I’m 1000% positive it has saved my life. And now I have the opportunity to live a normal life.
My OSA was so bad that I stopped breathing 70 times an hour and my oxygen level went down to 40%. I am still healing, and have not been back to sleep lab yet, but I am sure I am better, if not cured.
