NO! Phil the answer is NEVER that simple!
There is a huge difference between torture and compliance!
It's been my experience that too many doctors think the only help is CPAP. I had one that told me he never heard of anyone have pain form it. And tried to take my drivers license because I refussed to use it. IS there any wonder some people will lie to their doctors. I got lucky and found a doctor that cared enough to look for other options. But not before I got so depressed that I almost did myself in. I don't want anyone to have to go through that! AND THAT is my main reason for participating in this web site!
