If your haven't tried Medline for a search, perhaps you could try that.

I have the address of one of the "Stanford surgeons". He reads all his mail, and may be able to provide suggestions or references. I can email you with the address if you wish.

I was denied tongue somnoplasty, but was approved after I refuted teh pulmonologist's position on a large number of items. You will be taking yours to a higher level, and you should have the right dispute the opinions of the lower review boards. I feel that you should have a detailed response from those who denied the treatment and go from there.

Evidently you did not have a problem with doctors recognizing the need for treatment. Perhaps you can insist that they identify alternate non-CPAP treatments which are effective.

If they suggest a trache, may I suggest that they be given a copy of the problems others have had obtaining an effective trache, but they can be made to work.

Another possibility is that your next appeal include the consequences of untreated apnea and what treatment for such disorders will cost. Also, it is a quality of life that we are talking about here.

Sorry about the disorganization.

luck
