Toto,
Okay, take a deep breath--you can cause you're awake (ha ha, a little sleep apnea humor there) :).It appears that you have mild/moderate sleep apnea based on your sleep study report. The cutoff between mild and moderate is usually between 15 and 30 so you may have been told either way. If you don't understand what those numbers mean, ask your doctor to explain it to you. I found a website explaining sleep studies that I thought was really helpful here: http://www.i5ive.com/article.cfm/7505/57133
Your oxygen saturation is pretty high so that's a good thing. As far as your age and weight, despite what they say, just because you're not the "average" patient doesn't mean you're the only one! I'm 27 and skinny as a post. You probably have a small mouth and small jaw structures.
It's important to know that for most people, blockage occurs at more than one location (usually the tongue with palate or nasal obstruction). A singular approach like UPPP only clears the upper portion of the airway and may not be fully effective. It is usually the first line treatment. You should insist on a post-surgical sleep study and if you are not cured or your symptoms are not alleviated, press for more treatment.
The best thing to do is to become as educated as you can and be your own patient advocate. Sleep disorders are an under-researched field, and many doctors have only a cursory understanding of it. The web contains tons of information, and you can always ask questions here :).
As far as the UPPP/tonsils are concerned, it can be painful. The best thing to do is to stay on top of the pain medicine--set an alarm and take it on time. It's much easier to ward off the pain than to try to alleviate it once it's there. I had my UPPP in February. Expect to take about 2 weeks to recover. Eat lots of ice cream :). Make sure your doctor prescribes a LIQUID pain medication (like Lortab liquid).
Good luck,
Shelby
