I would opt for the sleep study asap. The reason is, after someone gets "better" through cpap or surgery there is no way for them to tell how much better as they do not really remember what perfect really was like. Everything just becomes a relative evaluation.
This is not all bad!! To say I am living now and would not have been if not for the change is great, but strive for total remission because as some of the new medical studies have indicated even a very mild case of OSA can increase risk of many deadly diseases. It also robs you of that extra 10 or 15 percent of smarts and energy that you deserve.

Did you try a heated humidifier on CPAP. I have found, used properly they are incredibly effective.
