DaveR:

I won't go into my reasons for surgery. I have had UPPP (trim uvula and palate), MMA (Advance the jaw(s) to provide more room behind the tongue) and GA (Adavancement of the genioglossis muscle to provide more room behind the tongue. I had the first of two (perhaps there wil be a third) tongue sopmnoplasty treatment on 4/4. Each of the first three helped, but it is too early to evaluate the somnoplasty. CPAP is efficient in that it aplies pressure to the whole airway to keep it from collapsing, while surgery affects only the area 'treated' and not the complete airway.

Even for tongue somnoplasty one must use CPAP while recovering from the treatment. In fact I delayed (Or chickened out) once because I had not been using CPAP all night.
