I don't usually read or post here as I am making CPAP work (though the evidence is all secondary). Everything I have read (and especially on THIS forum) indicates that surgery is more likely gonna make things worse than better (except for a trach, which isn't what you're thinking of).
If I were considering surgery (and I'm adjusting OK to CPAP, so it's unlikely) I would survey here to find out how many people it actually worked for (with "worked for" defined as: < 5 RDI and able to sleep without CPAP or other assistance). I don't think there is anyone 6 months past their surgery who is at this point?
And I'd take 40 years of CPAP over 40 years of insulin needles (for example) and the stuff associated with that. (I'm hoping I've dodged THAT genetic bullet).
If you give CPAP an honest try with your OWN effort (don't count on the docs or the RTs or the suppliers) you can make it work. If you don't like all the crap on your head, try the Breeze. Surgery is one way, CPAP doesn't prevent you from trying other things later.
