Life doesn’t suck, CPAP does. I too, went though the H*LL of CPAP, let me tell you, it is not for everybody, I felt like I was getting ready for a TOP GUN flight test every night. Plus my S.O. did not approve and banished me with my hissing (lightly of course) machine to the spare bedroom.
So, here the scoop, in case you haven’t “gotten it yet”.
Some people can’t tolerate CPAP, but you MUST at least try it out for insurance purposes. While you’re at it, read your insurance policy carefully, if there is any doubt on coverage, now is the time to change Insurance companies. Pre-existing condition doesn’t count if you haven’t gone to see a specialist yet.
After you have reviewed your Insurance or HMO and are happy with it, get YET ANOTHER sleep study done, this time find an ENT to authorize it.
Once you have an authorization by an ENT for your sleep study then go hunting for an ENT that knows all about, sleep depravation.
Your crabbiness and depression comes from lack of sleep not quality of life.
NEVER FORGET THAT.
UPPP or UP3 success rate by itself is not good, that’s why the UP3 is now done WITH a GA or a MMA.
Stamford doctors are the “masters” but now there are plenty of ENT’s “grasshoppers”. Check out the website and LEARN, LEARN, LEARN.
You should be well into six months of C Crap, by now.
Now is the time to ask about surgery (if that is your choice). You need to gather all the information and get ready for the next battle, insurance coverage.
Armed with sleep studies, Cpap and doctor’s recommendation, expect the insurance company to DENY the surgery. APPEAL, APPEAL, APPEAL.
Set your surgery date while you appeal, if they (the insurance company) see that you are serious they usually will come through, be sure you have a payment plan in place. If not and you don’t have the money to pay outright, reschedule.
I won’t talk about the pain involved, as I am a “weenie”. But I can tell you that, I am going for my first extended bike/camping trip in over 20 years, I now go to LATE movies without falling asleep, I have the energy to chase my 2 year old granddaughter around, no more naps at the stoplight, work production is way up and I FEEL like I am living instead of existing, my surgery was only less than 2 months ago.
My two-cents just surpassed Susan B Anthony.
Cheer UP, good luck.
