Well I want to thank everybody for posting their findings, info, opinions, encouragement, etc. That was a really bad day the other day. I've been on the antidepressants for several years so I don't have too many bad days like that anymore, but sometimes I still do. Plus, I think the idea of fighting a hose and head apparatus for several decades during sleep (which is SUPPOSED to be the most restful part of the day, not a struggle) finally dawned on me and it wasn't looking to appealing.
I still haven't gotten the new mask. I'm not really anxious though, since I'm not sure it will make me feel any better about CPAP, but hey, at least I need to give it a try, right? There's a chance I could actually sleep well.
This morning I woke up and the CPAP was off again, and the headgear on the floor. I had gotten it in a pretty good position last night when I went to sleep, and don't remember taking it off, so I really don't know what happened.
As far as the open mouth thing, I had been wrapping an ace bandage around my head right where my mouth is to keep my lips from blowing open. I didn't two nights ago, and yesterday morning I woke up with a lot of bloating and felt like a balloon. I put it back on last night, and although I didn't wear it all night, at least there was no bloating this morning.
Ok, so today I'm feeling pretty good, not too tired, thinking maybe the CPAP may help, but I don't feel like there are any REALLY good alternatives right now. Either get my nose/mouth/throat carved/bolted/zapped or wear scuba/firefighter/snorkeling gear on my head every night. Hmmmm....what to do, what to do...
I'm going to have to think about this one a LOT.
Thanks again everbody. I'll keep you posted.
