Insurance question.........

Posted by Josie on May 23, 2001 at 14:24:25:

Anyone get UPPP covered without CPAP?? My docs office just told me today I would probably not get covered for surgery June 20. I had to inquire about when they would know - noone mentioned to me there might be a problem. If I had known I would have went ahead with CPAP titration, since all they require is you possess one for 30 days. Ughh...I wish someone had told me sooner. I am nervous about CPAP cause Im a bit claustrophobic when it comes to things covering my mouth/nose. I have stuffy nose 2 to 3 nights a week due to allergies and was told I couldnt use CPAP those nights. ENT says CPAP is no good unless you use it 100% of the time. Even my sister who is a strong advocate for CPAP takes it off in the middle of the night quite often. I also have dreams in which I cant wake up, I feel like I try and try to wake up but cant, (stress Im sure) but I wake up in a panic and cant imagine how much worse it would be with a mask covering my face.

I know Im rambling...sorry...just looking for some advice. Should I just give in and put off the surgery or try to fight for coverage??

Thanks
Josie
