I recall stifness and tenderness somewhat between the upper lip and the nostrils ( makes sense only if you had a septo) lasting for 3-4 months, though fading each week.Bearable, but somewhat a reminder like you were punched recently. My guess is it would have something to do with the cartillage being moved, fractured or removed-dependent on the individual case. The healing just takes longer than any surface incisions.
On a side note, did anyone have the packing stitched to the nostril? I did (the ENT snipped it AFTER tugging on it) and it seemed to be tender in the "stitch anchor" point for about a month. But if the pain is unbearable you should call your doctor.
