I had them done on June 15. I was on tylenol 3 with codiene liquid which makes you constipated. But I didn't worry about any constipation because I really didn't eat enough for the first week for it to be a problem. I suggest after the surgery monitor what is going in first before you worry about anything coming out the other end.My surgeon told me the same thing and it wasn't a problem. As for numbing pain, it didn't help whatsoever for the first 12-14 days anyway and by then swallowing still hurt but was bearable anyways. For me the Tylenol 3/codiene really only took the edge off when it was feeding time for the first week. If you can, try to get something stronger. I had to take it every 2-3hours and it was supposed to be taken every 4 hours. It IS by far the most pain I have experienced but it was well worth it. The 2 weeks of pain goes by fast. I now have no sign of apnea or snoring and I have an amazing amount of energy during the day. Best of luck with the surgery.
