I'm so glad that there was someone around to help you when you needed it - life is too precious to lose! As Phil and Carolyn have said, the beginning is the hardest part of having the trach. Don't give up . . . it does get better. Like you, I am young, and worried about the implications of the trach. But having a trach has allowed me to begin regaining my health, and is easily the best thing that has happened to me.
