I asked my doctor about Hyoid Suspension before the surgery and he said there might be some swallowing complications because of that. He also said it is not his favorite one and that I might not need it.

I has UPPP, not LAUP. It was done by Kasy Li at Stanford. They callit modified UPPP flap at Stanford, where they trim the uvula and soft palette conservatively in order to avoid side effects from UPPP.
