How is life after the tonsillectomy and UPPP?

Posted by Zach on October 04, 2001 at 13:07:17:

For everyone who has had the tonsillectomy and UPPP, I was wondering if the two surgeries reduced your RDI to a level where your apnea was considered "cured?" And are you sleeping better?

I think apnea is considered "cured" if your RDI is < 5 during the followup sleep test.

What was your RDI before the surgery and what was it afterwards?

Were you on a CPAP machine before the surgeries, and are you still on CPAP now?

Or have the surgeries allowed you to come off CPAP all together?

Also, I go for my post-op checkup on Monday and was wondering what to expect. Does the doctor remove the stitches in my throat or do they dissolve on their own?

I know I'm all questions today, but I'm just wondering how the surgeries have helped to improve the lives of others who have had them and if those people are still dependent upon a machine to help them sleep.
