tongue reduction and hs

Posted by rkfromslc on October 06, 2001 at 06:47:11:

In the early 90's, I tried using CPAP for over 2 1/2 years with no real help. In may I had RF tongue reduction. The spacing at the back of the throat is now 11mm (the Dr. said this is optimum). The 02 was checked two months post procedure and still drops off to the low 80%. On Sept 24, I had the hyoid suspension. Going home from the hospital, I noticed that the volume of air going in while awake was greatly increased. Twice since the surgery, I have slept for 4 hours in one stretch. Haven't done that in 35 years. I hope that continues. The pain wasn't too severe in either procedure. I still have some swelling and have been told that I should show more improvement as it subsides. I will have another oxymetery test in Dec. If it hasn't improved, the next step is genioglosuss tongue advancement. Not sure I want to go through with that one or any additional surgical procedures. Sounds like its iffy whether GA, MMA or trach are worth it.
