Hey there, Buck.
I'm doing fine. I just looked in my mouth a few hours ago and was surprised to see just how well things are coming along.
I'm now on Day 16 and my tonsil pockets are filling in as they should. My palate tissue all looks fine and healthy. What more could I ask for? Well, probably to have the stitches removed, but that will come with time.
I had some lasagna from Macaroni Grill yesterday and some chicken fajitas for lunch today. I ate everything with no problems. My swallowing is just fine. I'm still only having one solid meal a day to give my digestive tract a chance to get used to food again. But that will change in the coming weeks. I will, however, have a new diet. I'm going to go near-vegetarian for a bit to continue the weight loss the surgery has jump started. I'm staying away from burgers and fries, and that's a good thing.
When I saw my doc this Monday, he didn't give my any lidocaine for gargling. I'm not sure what that's for. However, I saw my doc close to two weeks after the surgery and you saw yours at one week. Maybe it's something to promote healing? An antiseptic?
Hmmm. I haven't had hardboiled eggs for a long time. That probably would be a good thing to have. Mashed potatoes are great, but I will probably hold out to have some with a nice steak dinner once I'm brave enough to risk it. Potatoes at a steak house are always awesome.
Glad to hear the good news!
Find ways to enjoy your time off. How often does anyone get to have time to themselves for two or three weeks. My plans, new goals, read some books, etc. Although you're a little uncomfortable from the surgery, you still can find ways to make the time off productive.
Keep on progressing,
Zach
