Hi Kevin,
You did not mention if the the UPPP is one of the procedures you are considering. I had the UPPP/GA this summer (July) out at Stanford with the Powell/Riley team. The pain from the UPPP far outweighs the pain of the GA. When they do the GA they sever some nerves which minimizes the pain. The incision pain is minor with painkillers (a "5"). My numbness is limited to one small area of my lower teeth and gums. It seems to be coming back gradually. The UPPP was majorly painful (a "9" or "10"), but controllable with painkillers. The first 5 days are very unpleasant, then it gets better every day. You are pain free by day 14 in most cases. I was out of work for 3 weeks, and useless at work for the fourth. How is the recovery for Any lingering complications at all? the HS? Do you have any trouble swallowing? What level of pain did you experience? etc. Thanks.
