Posted by summer on January 11, 2002 at 17:32:01:Hello everyone.
I thought I'd let you know that after the GA/UPPP last year, although I thought things were just fine and was done with the doctors, I have had somewhat of a relapse and now will be having HS and RF at Stanford on Jan 22. They will also remove the screw in my chin left over from the GA. The doctor says that I will likely need a few more RF treatments, but that the likelihood of MMA for me is "extremely remote."
So I'm actually kind of excited to get this next phase done, it should be much easier than last year's surgery, and even that wasn't too bad for me. I guess the tissue that was stretched forward during the last surgery has relaxed now (as the doctor told me it probably would) and I have a very large tongue that needs shrinking with RF. My OSA has been reduced in half, though, and my oxygen levels are staying above 95% according to my last sleep study. My RDI is 40 rather than the original 79, and I have only hypopneas rather than apneas.
But lately I've been real tired, and I'm snoring badly! Without a uvula! I"ve also gained some weight back. And I"m back on bpap which is problematical since it forces my tongue forward and makes my teeth loosen...
So please wish me luck, I'll report in at the end of the month. In the meantime, I'm taking a week's vacation in Mexico!
