I had the GA done as part of a UPPP/GA last July at Stanford. The GA did not bother me a bit compared to the UPPP. Don't worry about it being "involved", you will be in very good hands out there. The Powell/Riley/Li team invented both procedures and have done thousands of them since the early 1980's. I did not have the HS, but most people do not find it anywhere near as trying as the UPPP to recover from.
