I think it all depends on the ENT that YOU choose. I emphasised "you" because I really believe in shopping around for health care. Most people spend less time picking a Doc than they do a movie at Blockbuster. Mine pushed me to exhaust all of the other options and was very up front about expectations (He actually even told me that his car was paid for). It has been a rough month since surgery, but I am beginning to sleep through the night and wake on my own. I still hit that wall around 4 or 5 pm, but am optomistic. I was rated at 52 before surgery and had been on CPAP for more than a year and a half. The jury is still out on "worth it", but for me, at least, it was not "worthless".
