GA helped the O2 sat

Posted by rkf on April 03, 2002 at 05:20:44:

I had the GA done in January of this year. I still haven't had a follow up sleep study but I have had a overnight oxymetery done. Prior to surgery, my blood saturation would drop down to mid 80s for a mean low (spikes to around 80%). I also would have a cyclical heart rate (speed up for two minutes, slow down for two minutes then normal for two minutes then repeat several times). It would do this repeatedly through out the night. Since the surgery, the O2 sat remains above 93 for a mean low and the heart rate remains normal through out the night. I still do not feel rested and am awake for most of the night. My doctor says it may still come around and he wants to wait a full three months before opting for a polysomnogram. He is starting immunotherapy for severe hay fever as I can't breath through my nose most of the time. He thinks this may be part of the problem. Maybe one day we'll get it right
