Posted by Shadoe on April 03, 2002 at 06:12:06:Well...I'm exactly 4 weeks post op, here are my impressions so far.
(For those who don't know, I had UPPP, tonsillectomy, turbinectomy, septoplasty..I'm 29, not overweight, don't smoke...Diagnosed with U.A.R.S., no apneas, only an RDI of 0.1 with 31 arousals an hour. Two ENT's quoted a success rate of about 85% for me)
First...the nose. Fabulous being able to breathe through my nose when I go to sleep, and when I wake up. I think this was one of the reasons why I always slept on my back. Still hurts a little, still some really big boogers, but for the nose, I love it.
Now the UPPP...Eating is better..still a little pain when I swallow, but not nearly as bad as after the surgery. I have to drink very slowly now or I cough. Not having nasal regurgitation anymore.
Sleeping...Hmmm..waking up is no problem (I used to have a terrible time getting out of bed)..but honestly I don't see much of a difference in terms of the fatigue.
Is there anybody out there who had success after a month from these surgeries...I'm getting worried. I have no regrets about having the surgeries (in my mind, I HAD to have something done), but now I'm wondering what my next options are.
Please let me know
