Hi Bubbles, I think we traded emails a couple of times in the last year. I had my MMA etc. at Stanford in April, 2001, and then went back for the soft tissue surgeries in October.
I have had some of the same problems with my lips. Recently I had a consult because the drainage from one sinus is blocked, and the ENT mentioned that I was very dry. When I push water, one day as much as 6 liters, the lips improve dramatically. The dehydration may also contribute to any feelings of fatigue, dizziness, and so on. In my case I tend to have sweating at night that sometimes wakes me up. That alone may cause enough water loss to influence overall water balance. I keep at least a liter of water by my bed and usually drink it all by time I get up.
As to cause, I am somewhat in the dark. There might be some residual nerve loss that influences these problems, but I find that unlikely. The sensory innervation on my face has, in the last few weeks, completely come back - the right side was numb and insensitive for a long time.
I would be interested in any other thoughts you may have about this, but try the water. By the way, don't get too far from a restroom...
Regards,
Tom
