I had my Septo/UPPP/Tonsils out last Monday (4/1). It's been a week now and I am amazed at how much progress I have made. Last week at this time I was miserable.
The nose splints were taken out the day after surgery,AHH, what a relief that was. There was so much pressure in my head and eyes giving me the worst headache ever. It immediately subsided when the Dr yanked the splints out.But I know how you are feeling. Don't worry about the splints coming out. It doesn't hurt. You won't believe how much they pull out, but trust me, not at all painful. You will feel an amazing difference. Then you will be able to irrigate with a saline spray and q-tips. No blowing.
The throat will ease up after a couple of days, but once you hit day 5 or 6 post op, that will begin to bother you more than it did after the first couple, but again, look forward to the increae in pain because it's a sign of good things to come. You will soon begin to feel much better. I had planned on two weeks off from work, but I'm considering returning on weds for a few hours at least. Hanging around the house is starting to make me a little antsy, so I must be feeling better.
Keep taking the meds and don't wait for them to wear off. Be preemptive, if it says 4 hours between doses, take them at 3-3.5 hrs. You'll be foggy but so what, what else do you have to do? I just wanted to sleep my way through the process, though the first few days I did not get much sleep, averaging two hours at a stretch, up an hour, and so on.
Sleeping at night continues to improve. I only got up once last night, guzzled some ice water and a pain pill and was able to get a pretty decent nights sleep. I even had a vivid dream.
Hopefully tonight will be just as good.
Give it a few more days, and you might be as lucky as me and be amazed at how this thing progresses. Of course everyone heals differently, but stay hydrated and medicated and you will soon feel much better.Stay positive.....Stu
