Hi! I really need help! I am desperately tired...
I have had this problem as long as I can remember and don't know what to do.
I sleep about 8 hours a night and though I am anxious before i go to sleep, I fall asleep pretty easily. I have had a sleep test done which showed that I go straight into REM sleep upon falling asleep, and have almost no deep sleep (stages 3 & 4). I wake up maybe 10 times a night, where maybe 5 times are for more than a minute. (i usually go to the bathroom once or twice a night). The results are that in the morning I remember maybe 3 dreams ( a few nightmares a week), and I feel just as tired as when I went to sleep. I feel as though I just woke up from a marathon.
I have been depressed on and of most of my life due to difficult childhood (although I was not abused).
The doctor who gave me the sleep test diagnosed me as being worried (which is true), and put me first on a drug called Neurontin, which did not help much. Now I am taking 30mg a day of Imipramine (Tofranil) and it is not helping much.
I should mention that for the past 2 months I have not been having chocolate, coffee, tea, strenous exercise, or heavy eating 6 hours before sleep.
What should I do? Do I have a sleeping disorder? I wish someone could sympathize with me, I am just so tired of all my dreams.
Thank you for your help.
Judy
