You should definitly have him seen by a sleep lab. Will probably need a sleep study. Could be acting out dreams and is treatable. Until you get him in to a lab safety is the most important thing. No sharp objects near by, no guns, try to make the bedroom as safe as possible.

If you can you should try to do a video of this to show the doc. It can help in diagnosis. There are many new cheap cameras that record in infrared so you will not need lights.

Does he ever get out of bed?

You may want to sleep in another bed until he has been seen.
