Jan you wrote a response to my posting. The only thing I know this to come from is abuse or neglect as a baby or child. I do not know how to stop it or if there is a way. Our son does not appear to be "head banging" as bad lately. When we adopted him the social worker told us that it may stop when he starts to feel secure in our home. If this is a new boyfriend he may be banging because he is nervous about sleeping with you knowing that this will happen. I hope you will feel free talking to him about it. This may calm some of his fears and he may rest better. Our son says he never remembers banging.
