Possible Hypersomnia?

Posted by glitterbitter87 on January 04, 2005 at 18:54:55:

I'm Melissa and I'm a 17 year old High School Student. I don't know if its just me being a normal teenager or if I actually have a sleep disorder. I realized over 6 months ago that all I want to do is sleep. During the summer I would go to bed around 8 or so pm and wake up around 10:30AM to get to work by 11AM until 1PM. I'd probably take a nap between 2 and 3 pm until 5 or 6 pm when my parents would awake me (or try to which usually lasted for at least 30 min) for dinner. Afterwards I would just watch tv or something for an hour or two and go to bed at about 8PM and do the same thing over again. The whole time at work and whenever I was awake I was constantly sleeping. Now I'm back into school and find myself sleeping through at least 2 or 3 (out of 7) classes a day. I find myself coming home from school at 3:30PM and sleeping until I'm awoken at 7 pm, then back to bed at the latest 9 pm. Although the thing that confuses me is the fact that I have a lot of energy about an hour after I wake up in the morning, then its all gone by about an hour or two after the energy appears and thats the only energy I have all day. Anybody Help?
