Sleep Seizures

Posted by greentea on February 14, 2005 at 02:35:37:

For some years now I have been randomly experiencing seizures in my sleep. I will wake suddenly and sit bolt up right but have no control over my limbs and be gasping for breath. It is terrifying and I can only say it feels as though I am having a stroke or heart attack. I don't think it relates to dreams as I sometimes remember what I was dreaming and it was not scary. I have suffered depression in the past and continue to suffer mild anxiety but I cannot explain these unpredictable episodes. I believe I am having panic attacks in my sleep but don't know how to handle them. I am always too scared to go back to sleep after a seizure. Does anyone else experience anything similar or know what its cause may be?? Please help?
