Thanks for responding. His parents, neighbors and friends are treating it as a real incident. His parents have changed locks, put in a security system, and took other defensive measures. The initial policemen are off the case, now detectives is on it, and agreed the way he was initially interviewed was completely wrong, however, they have really not treated it as a real incident. The schools have been notified by the parents, and all the neighbors in our area know. Everyone, including his parents, have told him we believe him. It is upsetting that because the police didn't respond to this the way they should have, someone is still on the loose and may hurt another kid. The police didn't appreciate that the parents told other people and those people are demanding more of an investigation. His parents have researched night terrors, and will watch for signs, just in case. They decided that it was best to take every measure for either situation. They don't want someone coming in to their house and they don't want thier son wandering outside if indeed it turns out that is what happened. I agree, there are two many things that don't add up. It is frustrating not knowing for sure, but the child needs to know he is safe and he can trust adults to listen to him, at least those outside of law enforcement anyway. It was definately a wake up call to our quiet normally safe environment.
