This story is really amazing. I am 37 years old, and have been sleepwalking since I was 7. The doctors told my parents I would outgrow it, and it happens now only when I am sick, stressed, etc. Since my 20s I have had episodes that some docs call sleep terrors. I hallucinate and see people/objects standing above me that aren't there. At first they scared me to the point that I didn't want to sleep. After about 2 weeks I was becoming accustomed and would just "watch" everything until I woke up and it was gone. Often a sleepwalking episode would happen with the hallucinations and on several occasions I woke up outside trying to get away from what I saw. I have also made phone calls, done dishes, and cooked simple meals that I don't remember. I think it is always better to believe the child--the episodes always seem very real while they are happening. Perhaps the parents can follow up with a sleep specialist. Good luck. I hope this info helps.
