i believe what you are suffering is on of the many variations of sleep paralysis - when you're mind and body are not quite in sync with each other and you're left in a state between sleeping and waking.

i'm sorry i can't be more help but i know of no treatment for it (i wish i had one - i also suffer from this condition) but if it brings any comfort - i know it feels as tho the attack goes on for ages, but there's been research that shows that it only actually occurs for a matter of a few seconds at most. i find it useful to remind myself of that fact while its happening.
