Posted by bubbly78 on October 10, 2007 at 06:19:21:wow am i glad i found this page! ive had interesting and scary things happen to me for years in my sleep but never really thought anything of it until a couple years ago when i started waking up feeling like someone was standing on my chest and holding me down. i couldnt move or speak but i could hear and see. at the time i chalked it up to stress or actual dreams but deep down i knew something was wrong. after that when i would lie down for a nap i would get electric shock feelings in my head and down my body. at first only a couple times but recently almost daily. i take xanax for panic disorder and also before i go to bed at night and it hardly ever happens at night. i dont take them during the day because i work at night and would be groggy at work. so i wonder if the xanax inhibits this from happening at night. the electric shocks repeat over and over ten to twenty times until finally i just get up frustrated that im not getting enough sleep. sometimes i can tell ive fallen asleep because i dream a little or think my daughter has came in the room when she didnt. other times i almost feel like im having an out of body experience by sitting up over and over as my body tingles. then sometimes i am paralized but tingling like pins and needles throughout my body. im tired of it. i work late and get up at 6 to get my kids off to school so 3 or 4 hours a night isnt working. i have been on many websites and have written down twenty things that are possible diagnoses, all of which sound scary and have nothing to do with sleep disorders. it seems that every doctor dismisses these claims from thousands of people as if we are all crazy or needing some sort of meds to get a high. thats bull! they need to read these messages and see that there are more people than just me or you. anyway i have a doctors appt today but have no insurance and dont want to have to sell my house to find out whats wrong with me like some people ive read about. ive noticed without being a doctor that 90% of the people who have these problems have at one time or another been on and anti-anxiety med. i was on them bout 5 years ago but came off when i got pregnant with my 3rd child. wish me luck and if anyone knows a doctor that would read up on this stuff tell him/her to read these stories. good luck to everyone to get this resolved!
