Hi Bubbly : Notice my name ? Thats it !!! They are called brain zaps or brain spasms . Last summer after working in the sun all day , I came in , ate supper , then pounded a couple of beers . No problem . After going to sleep , I woke up in the middle of the night , with the feeling someone had jumped on my chest . So I go back to sleep ; the next night while trying to sleep , I get these 1 second zaps in my head that go down to my stomach , kind of like rollercoasting . I now get 10 or 20 in a night . Does this sound like yours ? From what I have heard , they are called "brain zaps" or "brain spasms" , and are reportedly harmless chemical exchanges between brain and body . I also started having Hypnic jerks , or body jerks too. They too are supposed to be "normal" , although they don"t feel that way . I have since aquired tinnitus or ear ringing . Since this started I have eliminated alcohol , and improved my diet , its helped but not stopped these sleep problems . This to me was a wake-up call to take better condition of my body . Thanx---"Brainzapper"
