I am twenty two years old and have hd night terros my entire life. I have noticed that no one elses ever seem to be like mine. Coming on to this site I have seen references to shadowmen and dark men and for once I don't feel so alone. I just had another terror about 30 min ago. I'm in an extended stay hotel. In the dream this is what happens: I'm in my bed and the whispering starts, I think one hundred percent that I am awake and that it is the room next to me. I sleep with the lights on but I wake up to darkness. In the corner of the room is a darkness that is primodial and I know that he is there, I scream and run from the room outside. I think I have woken up but outside there are no lights and the creature in my room laughs. I wake up screaming only to find that the darkness persists he is still there. I try to turn on the lights because I have know since childhood that protection from him lies only in finding a light. But as is always the case I can not turn on the light. I run out screaming from the room and people two doors down are outside. One is a man I have seen here everyday and he asks if I am alright, I say no that He is in my room. I turn to the black lady there and begin to cry relizing I am only half dressed and she says in a havy Jamaican accent, "Come on child, we'll go get rid of him." I tell her to be careful as she walks into the room I say try the lights but she laughs and walks into the darkness and I realize that it was Him all along. At this point I run screaming from the room.
I truly wake up at this point to find myself outside my hotel room clinging to the balcony rail where I ended my dream. I broke into to tears and the man at the end of the hall looked at me like I was crazy.
This Dark Man had plauged me for years, I cannot escape him even with lucid dremaing which is something I have practiced for several years now. These are the only dreams that I find myself powerless in and unable to wake up from. Is there anyone else who dreams of this? I can't do this anymore...
