Typically someone is diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia after everything that could be causing sleepiness during day ruled out.

I don't think this diagnosis can be made without a sleep study showing no sleep disorders.

Also, insomnia is not a disorder is it a complaint. There are a huge list of problems which can cause insomnia. Many sleep disorders present as insomnia and will cause sleepiness during the day. The underlying cause needs to be found and treated.

You need to see a sleep specialist in your area if you haven't already.
