Scary Behavior while sleeping

My husband exhibits the scariest behavior when he sleeps. It happened this morning for the third time in about 6 months. He has a strange look on his face, makes odd noises and thrashes abit. I have a really hard time waking him up when this happens. He has history of stroke and it terrifies me that he is having another stroke whern this happens. The first time, I called 911 and the medics came and all of his vitals were fine. This morning he asked me a question, went back to sleep and about 5 minutes later this happened. The other times it has been in the middle of the night. He drank (too much) last night but alcohol has not been a factor in the other two instances. Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.
