In about 2000 I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Tried CPAP and couldn't tolerate it. I didnt know there were other treatment options available so I didnt pursue it again until 2005. I had a few more sleep studies done and had the UPPP surgery done in 2007. I just had another sleep study done and the apnea is gone but I still have problems with alpha intrusions. For those of you unfamiliar with these Ill try and explain. When you are awake your brainwaves are in alpha. When you are sleeping your brainwaves shift into delta. For some reason when I shift into delta sleep my brainwaves will kick into alpha which wakes me up before I can get any type of restorative sleep. Does anyone know anything about the treatment for this? Ive tried an antidepressant and had no luck with it. Im currently on an anticonvulsant called Gabitril. It seems to help me sleep a bit better but Im still tired during the day and still have frequent headaches and body pain and no energy. My doctor thinks this may be some symptoms of fibromyaligia which can be linked in most cases to sleep disorders. If anyone has any info on any of this Id appreciate it greatly.
