Sandman, thank you. This is a very helpful site, which has comforted me immensely. For example, I awoke a few times earlier this year in a warm environment, yet I was shivering as if from coldness. My doctor was puzzled and told me not to worry since it was infrequent. Nevertheless, I developed a mild fear of its recurrence. A web search led to this site where I found a thread on the same topic by another reader. Just knowing that I was not the only one who had had such an experienced made me feel a lot better. Misery likes company! (As a side note, the person who posted the comment on 11-22-04 had used his first name and last name initial as a screen name, and his name and last initial were the same as mine!)

P.S. This symptom seemed different from the tremulousness of anxiety or a hypoglycemic attack, both of which I have experienced--it was truly like a chill. Any idea what causes such sleep-related shivering in the absence of cold?
