Posted by cottonball on June 23, 2009 at 18:51:03:I've read lots of info on this topic but none really fits me.
I know I sleep with my mouth open. my husband wakes me up and says close your mouth. i wake up and do so.
My problem is that I get a very dry mouth, gums, roof of mouth, inside of cheeks, and throat almost every night. Sometimes I feel so dry I feel like some of those areas are sticking together.
I try to move my tongue around to stimulate saliva glands but many times have to get up and get a drink of water.
I am 63, pretty good health, eat pretty healthily, don't eat or drink before bed, eat small meal at evening meal, no meds, exercise regularly.
I just can't figure out how to keep my mouth closed when I sleep....and I HOPE that this dry mouth stuff is only because of my open mouth sleeping.
