You don't say how old you are. If the sleep problems you describe started in early puberty or earlier, check out DSPS, Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (or Disorder). There's an article on Wikipedia and more info at dspsinfo.org

It's a circadian rhythm disorder. Sleeping 3-4 a.m. to noon or one p.m. is typical. Sleeping longer than 8 hours is typical.

Keep in mind, too, that it is not uncommon to have two sleep disorders. Even if you do have DSPS you may need to be checked for apnea or restless legs in addition.
