many thanks for the link to cpap forum. i read thru many of the posts. my goodness...i feel so silly posting about my simple dry mouth at night issue.
as a child i used to have this problem but it occurred during day also. turns out i had to have my adnoids removed. problem solved.
i have a protruding jaw but not too bad. my dentist says my tmj is caused partially by my jaw, my posture and at night i clench my teeth.
i too have been told that i could have an operation to fix my jaw line but was advised that since mine was not that bad, better to leave it as is.
this dry mouth has only been going on for about 8-9 months. i tend to try to position my jaw so that my back teeth are not together but bottom pulled back so front teeth meet. of course, as a sleep it moves to where it is comfortable.
i see my reading the posts that this may be one of my problems....as i am actually reducing the space in the back of my throat for breathing.
my first incident started when i began using the mouth guard the dentist made for me. this was to help with my teeth clenching at night. after a few nights of that..i stopped using it.
i don't know what osa nor mma is but i am sure my condition is not that critical and i hope that i can correct it.
just started to gargle with salt water after brush teeth before bedtime. using oralbalance saliva substitute gel and nasal strip. so far seems to be working.
maybe if i can just break the habit of sleeping with mouth open...can solve my problem.
i slept for 60 some odd years without this problem and bound and determined to make it go away.
hope i have not rambled on too much. just thought i would put in some background for better understanding for those who read my post.
