Pardon my wording, I meant to say that in my searches I found no information about the disorder. I didn't mean to suggest there wasn't any information available in the first place. Human error at its finest there.
I searched using key words and phrases, such as "stage IV sleep disorder," or "non-REM sleep disorder," not only online, but also in several textbooks in the campus library where I attend school currently, as well as a few public library books on common sleep disorders. I also consulted one of the instructors on campus who has conducted several studies on common sleep disorders, and he was not aware of the specific disorder I have, but has heard of similar cases before (he mentioned disorders wherein subjects get inadequate amounts of REM sleep, but not any cases where subjects spent excess time in stage III or stage IV sleep). I also read through the ICSD, and, as you might guess, I didn't see any disorder that matched the one with which I have been diagnosed. Might I say that just because it doesn't appear to be recognized as a major/common sleep disorder, that doesn't make it any less potent, real, or important? Like any other disorder, sleep-related or not, it has life-altering consequences.
Sorry if I come off as a bit blunt, but tone, inflection, and emphasis are difficult to convey through text. Constructing messages at 3 am probably doesn't help, either. At least I won't be tired in the morning, though. Perhaps the only redeeming quality of my sleep disorder.
Health, Happiness, and Long Life (in that order).Oh, and peaceful dreams, of course.
