You are probably thinking of Advanced Sleep Phase Syndrome (ASPS) where people fall asleep early in the evening and wake early in the morning.

It is thought that ASPS sufferers are not as sensitive to the light which sets our biological clocks.

It is treated through:

Chronotherapy - forcing yourself to go to bed later for a few weeks to help re-set the body.

Or

Light Therapy - exposing your self to light in the evening.
